Empório Aragão is a designers duo exclusively dedicated to the creation of wearable art. Project
In the latest project, Artboard + Machine 4.0, Empório Aragão has been implementing and addressing the application of artificial intelligence in the fashion industry, especially in the creation of virtual models generated by algorithms, promoting greater inclusion and diversity while also opening a dialogue regarding sustainability and efficiency.
Artificial intelligence enables the creation of virtual models that represent a variety of body types, ethnicities, and ages, challenging traditional beauty standards and encouraging the acceptance of different shapes and sizes. Moreover, AI-generated models can be adapted to showcase clothing in different formats and styles, providing a richer and more personalized experience for consumers. The atelier initially applied this project in advertising campaigns, reducing the need for physical models as well as the necessity for physical garments for photo shoots, which contributed to more sustainable production by minimizing the amount of fabric and materials wasted. The strategy aimed to rival high-quality fashion photography, highlighting how brands can present their products more attractively on websites, social media, and advertising campaigns. Furthermore, through these same models, it was possible to conduct virtual fittings and test different designs and combinations before production, thereby avoiding mass production of items and combating the culture of "fast fashion."
The atelier also seeks to shape the aesthetics of contemporary fashion by using AI in pattern design, automating some processes for designers and artists, allowing them to focus more on curation and design strategy while AI handles the generation of patterns and variations. Recent collaborations with visual artists have shown that AI-generated models facilitate remote collaborations, creating opportunities for emerging artists to access high-quality tools without barriers. Additionally, the easy integration of these models into e-commerce platforms facilitates the creation of more dynamic and interactive online shopping experiences for consumers. This approach aims to modernize aspects of production and marketing in fashion while also promoting a more sustainable and consumer-centered approach.
